Arkansas DOC also offers a service may be used to securely deposit funds into an inmate's Trust Account or an inmate's Pre-Pay Phone Service Account: Inmate Deposit Service
The cost of the calls is set by the contracted phone provider. In addition to the quoted rate of the call, applicable taxes and fees may apply. Rates subject to change.
Rates for calls from Arkansas state prisons:
Local Calls: $3.12 first minute plus .12 per minute
In-state calls: $3.12 first minute plus .12 per minute
Out-of-state calls: .21 per minute
Arkansas state prisons are mandated by the FCC to limit the cost of calls to interstate phone numbers to .21 per minute. This is a lower rate than local or in state rates. Sign up for a non-Arkansas phone number to the prison. When the inmate calls you using the out-of-state phone number, the call will automatically be routed to your existing home or cell phone. The cost of the call charged by the prison will be reduced to the lower interstate rate instead of the high, local and in-state rate.
Arkansas DOC also offers a service that may be used to securely deposit funds into an inmate's Trust Account or an inmate's Pre-Pay Phone Service Account. Use this option of funding the inmate's phone account when using a virtual out-of-state phone number. Depositing funds directly through Securus may result in the number being blocked. Inmate Deposit Service
Below you will find general information about the telephone policy at Arkansas State Prisons
Arkansas DOC has the highest rate in the country for in-state phone calls. To get around this, you will need to get an out-of-state phone number. Then the calls will be capped at .21 per minute.
Arkansas DOC also offers a service that may be used to securely deposit funds into an inmate's Trust Account or an inmate's Pre-Pay Phone Service Account. Use this option of funding the inmate's phone account when using a virtual out-of-state phone number. Depositing funds directly through Securus will result in the number being blocked. The minimum deposit amount is $25.00 for a Pre-Pay phone account.
No more than 2 payments will be accepted per credit card per day.
Inmates are provided with telephones during set
hours of use. Inmates can only make collect or pre-paid
calls to pre-approved numbers. Inmates can lose their
telephone privileges for disciplinary reasons.
Each unit has its own telephone policy, so please
check with the particular unit for specific hours of use.
Boot Camp inmates have telephone access only in
emergency situations. Boot Camp inmates may write
and receive letters. They may also use the telephone to
call family or friends prior to their graduation from the
Boot Camp program.
Inmates cannot have cellular phones. They are contraband, and inmates will be disciplined for having
them. Providing cellular phones or other electronic
communication devices to an inmate is a felony in Arkansas.
Inmates cannot have calling cards. The department
has a contract with a telephone service provider and
calling cards are not part of that contract.
If you want to have your name removed from an
inmate’s call list, send a letter to the warden of the unit
where the inmate is calling from and request that your
number be removed from the inmate’s list.
To relay an urgent message to an inmate, notify the
chaplain or mental health office at the inmate’s unit
about the emergency and a message will be delivered to
the inmate. Death, critical illness or injury and serious mishaps
are considered urgent messages.
