Before you can receive calls from a TDCJ offender, you must first register your telephone number:

Note: You will need the offender's TDCJ ID Number to register to receive phone calls from him or her. If you do not know their number you can find it through the online offender search at http://www.tdcj.texas.gov/offender_information/index.html or by phone at (936) 295-6371 or
(800) 535-0283. The phones are answered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Securus Technologies
An AdvanceConnect™ account with Securus is a friend & family-owned prepaid calling account that allows you to receive collect calls from inmates/offenders and have the charges deducted automatically from your prepaid account. A Securus prepaid AdvanceConnect account puts you in control of your spending and ensures you can receive calls from correctional facilities.

Phone Call Rates

The cost of the calls is set by the contracted phone provider. In addition to the quoted rate of the call, applicable taxes and fees may apply. Rates subject to change.

Rates for calls from Texas state prisons:
Local Calls:  .06 per minute
In-state calls:  .06 per minute
Out-of-state calls:  .06 per minute

 

General Information

Below you will find general information about the telephone policy at Texas State Prisons

Phones are available from 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., unless conditions dictate a change.
Calls are limited to 30 minutes.
You will hear a warning message one minute before being disconnected.
Offenders have unlimited minutes per month.
All calls, except to the Attorney of Record, are subject to monitoring and recording.

Calls may only be made to home landline telephone numbers or post paid cell phones within the continental United States and Hawaii. No calls are allowed to 800 numbers, pay phones, international numbers, or virtual numbers like Magic Jack, Vonage, Ooma and Lingo 

To receive calls, the name on the registrant's driver's license or state identification card must be reflected on their telephone listing or bill.

To register you will be required to confirm that you:
   Are the registered owner of the telephone number.
   Agree to allow the offender to call the phone number.
   Are at least 18 years old.
   Will not forward calls, make 3-way calls or use a speakerphone on calls received from the offender.
   Understand that eligible offenders are not allowed to speak to any adult that is not listed on their Approved Calling List.

Several different calling programs are available:

Direct-Collect Billed – You accept the call charges when the offender calls you. You will receive a monthly invoice detailing your calls. This account will be automatically created when you register with the Centurylink Friends & Family Enrollment Center.

Friends & Family Prepaid – Telephone number owner prepays for service. Once the account has been established, anyone can fund the account. Refunds are available for 365 days from date of last activity.

Offender Telephone – You can fund the Offender's Telephone account. You do not need to be on the Offender Visitor List to fund the account. Please note: Funds placed in offender accounts become the property of the offender, and can be used to call anyone. Friends & Family members will not be able to request refunds from these accounts.
